Lt General Ann E. Dunwoody has been nominated by President Bush to become the first woman 4-star Army General. It never happened become the normal path to become a 4-star General is to serve in combat jobs. However by Law, women are excluded from any combat jobs.
The nomination is pending, waiting for the Senate's approval
It's about damn time!
