There you go! She finally did it people. She was under a lot of pressure since her speech last night where she didn't concede the primary victory to Obama. She never acknowledged him as the next Democratic Nominee until this morning, in a subtle way, when addressing the AIPAC, a lobbying group for the American Jewish Community. She also had a few conference calls with her supporters who urged her to drop out and endorse Senator Obama. A New York Congressional delegation pushed for the meeting so they could convince her to start unifying the Party. On Friday, in Washington D.C she's expected to make a public announcement to thank her supporters and support the Obama nomination, probably with a photo op where she raises her hand with Obama and then host her campaign staff in a private party Saturday in New York.
Most of her supporters were uncomfortable endorsing Obama without being released by Clinton, they had to wait for her to drop out. Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean put also a lot of pressure on uncommitted delegates to declare themselves by Friday.
The healing process has started with a new fight against McCain and the Republicans on the horizon. McCain camp is already proposing a new style of debates starting from now until both Conventions where they will meet in Town Hall forums (10, one each week), televised and without any mediator.
Interesting concept, the Obama camp is also fond of the idea and they are working on the details. They obviously believe Obama will walk out victorious out of it. Speaking of Obama, he has set up a VP selection team that includes Former Deputy U.S. Attorney Eric Holder, former first daughter Caroline Kennedy and Democratic insider Jim Johnson. Supporters of Hilary Clinton are pushing for the so called "Dream Ticket", this morning Founder of BET Bob Johnson and his outrageous mind campaigned for Clinton as the VP, he even sent a letter to the Congressional Black Caucus so they can pressure Obama to pick her. Somebody tell that dude that this is not the way to do it and that you never campaign to become VP, you never force the hand of the nominee or pressure him or her in any kind of fashion. There is a protocol to follow Sir, she won't probably get the nod since her long political stance in Washington with her husband is against the Obama brand of Change.
If he does pick her now, he will look weak, she's also coming with a very liable baggage called Bill Clinton (he has yet to release his tax and contribution records to his library and we all know Obama is for a full release of those records). So don't get your hopes up!
