Booker T. Washington (1856-1915) was a prominent author and well renown educator. He founded the Tuskegee Institute to break barriers for the education of African Americans. He strongly believed that Education was the key to success for Blacks.
First African American to be an honored guest of a U.S President. He wasn't liked among his peers, especially W.E.B Dubois who called him "The Great Accomodator" because of his non-confrontational approach regarding Racism and White Suppremacy.
