Listening Session & Album Review: Beyonce "I Am...Sasha Fierce"
Myspace hooked up with Beyonce to preview the entire double Cd album on the site before it comes out next week, here's my review:
I didn't like it. She was aiming for a new sound in "I Am" (skip the whole first Cd), she should stick to what's working for her which is the party/dance/ladies anthem type of songs like "Single Ladies" after listening to the album I discovered that I like her alter ego Sasha Fierce more than Beyonce herself even though the "Sasha Fierce" joints were just OK, not mind blowing or memorable. She tries to rap in "Diva", I admit she got a better flow than I do (I'm no rapper) but still the beat is a mediocre copy of the "Millie" beat and she's all over the place on it. She also flatters her man's "Ego" in the song with the same title with clever metaphors and images that could make you think she's talking about something else: It’s too big, it’s too wide, it’s too strong, it won’t fit, it’s too much.
I'm surprised the first single "If I Were A Boy" is in the "I Am" Cd, a Cd that's supposed to be more personal, defining her personality and we all know by now that the song wasn't written by her so how is that a personal song to you? She always get into those songwriting controversies (last album: Ne-Yo and "Irreplaceable").
Too bad you can't buy those separately because that will be a smart move but then again you'll be getting only 5-9 songs depending on which album you're buying, regular or Deluxe edition.
It's your turn to judge it now:
